''Quasil-D'' is complex formulation of a powerful descaling agent, a surfactant and corrosion inhibitor compound. It is ideally suited for removal of scales from Cooling Towers, Boilers, Coils, Heat exchangers, Chillers and a wide range of heating and cooling systems. It is particularly effective in removing the problem of milk stones in Milk Industry.''Quasil-Becomes a versatile descaling agent which is safer still in terms of equipment corrosion and safety of personnel. Conventional descaling is a specialized job involving considerable time, energy, money and expertise. When descaling is done with acids like hydrochloric, the risks involved in damage to equipment are considerable.Personnel safety is also less. The inherent safety of ''QUASIL-D'' makes descaling a simple and routine maintenance job.
QUASIL-D:- Is easy to handle,
- Is harmless to equipment & personnel
- Dissolves scales rapidly
- Offers uniform descaling
- Prolongs equipment life
Quasil-D though acidic, is non-hazardous, non inflammable and unlike HCL does not pave the way for pitting corrosion.
Method Of Use For Scale Testing:Wherever possible, a small indicative test should be carried out before using, Quasil-D. A strong solution should be prepared by dissolving a few grams of Quasil-D in a little water and a small quantity of the scale scrapped off the equipment to be descaled should be placed in it, if effervescence is noted, it may be concluded that Quasil-D will act quickly and efficiently.
Concentration: Quasil-D is a powder, before use, it has to be dissolved in water. An accurate estimate of the quantity of QuasilD required will depend on the actual quantity of scale and the nature of scale that is present in the equipment. A3% - 10% w/w solution of Quasil-D in water is generally recommended. The total quantity of this 3% to 10% descaling solution will be about 10% higher than the filled volume of the equipment to be descaled. This formulation is recommended for scales containing high silica. Typical examples are scales found in sugar evaporators, caustic evaporators in the aluminum industry and black liquor evaporators in the pulp industry
Arrangements For Descaling Operation: Circulation of the descaling solution is recommended. Connect the tank containing the descaling solution to the equipment to be descaled by means of pipes or rubber hoses. The solution should preferably enter at the lowest point of the equipment and leave from the highest point. This Will prevent formation of gas pockets and subsequent uneven descaling. Circulation may be effected through a mechanized pump or a hand pump. If however, where circulation is difficult, the equipment to be descaled should be filled with 3% to 10% solution and allowed to soak for 8 hours.
Checking For Completion Of Descaling: A sample of the descaling solution may be withdrawn periodically and tested for acidity either by titration or by using a pH paper. When descaling is complete the concentration of acid will remain constant. If however, the solution shows no acidity more QUASIL-D should be added to the descaling solution and the process of descaling continued till the constancy of concentration of acid is achieved.
Flushing & Neutralizing: After completion of descaling drain the equipment and flush thoroughly with water till water becomes neutral.
Handling: Though it far safer than conventional descaling compounds, the following precautions must be taken while handling QUASIL-D Avoid prolonged inhalation of the vapour. Avoid contact with the concentrated solution with skin over a long period. In case of accidental contact with the eyes wash with water for 10 to 15 minutes and obtain medical attention if required.
